Planeta ETNA Rosso Sicilia BIO 2024 is an elegant red wine with a volcanic character, reflecting one of the most unique Italian terroirs. The wine is made mainly from ‘Nerello Mascalese’ grapes, grown on the volcanic slopes of Etna, in the Feudo di Mezzo area, at an altitude of more than 500-600 meters above sea level. The black volcanic sand soils, large temperature differences between day and night and the mountain microclimate give the wine a special balance of freshness and minerality.
The aroma reveals notes of cherries, red currants, strawberries, dried herbs, rose petals and delicate spices. Alongside the fruitiness, there are hints of volcanic stone, ash, iron and slightly smoky nuances, which are very characteristic of Etna wines.
The wine is medium-bodied, elegant, precise, fresh, with lively tannins and expressive acidity, so the wine retains energy and lightness even with ripe fruitiness. The palate reveals notes of cherry, pomegranate, wild berries, pepper and mineral earth. The aftertaste is long, subtly salty and mineral.
The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and wooden containers, and then briefly matured in both steel and larger oak barrels.
Serve at 16–18 °C with game, dishes with truffles, red fish, cheeses, salami.
