Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

The name Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is included in the historic 1855 Bordeaux Classification as a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé, confirming its enduring reputation and consistently high level of quality. This status remains an important hallmark of excellence, reflecting the identity of an estate shaped over centuries.

The origins of the estate date back to the 18th century, when the first vineyards were established on the slopes of the Grand-Puy hill. The château acquired its current name in the 19th century, when it was owned by the Lacoste family, who lent their name to the property. In the early 20th century, the estate was acquired by the Borie family, who continue to manage it to this day. A particularly important chapter began in 1978, when François-Xavier Borie took over management. Under his leadership, the vineyards were renovated, the winery modernized, and quality control strengthened, restoring Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste to its position as one of the most prominent names in Pauillac.

In winemaking, great attention is devoted to meticulous vineyard work and precise process management. The harvest is carried out by hand, selecting the optimal moment of ripeness. Fermentation is often conducted separately by grape variety and individual plots in order to best express the character of each component. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new.
