Planeta Plumbago Rosso Menfi DOC BIO 2023 is a wine made from organically grown ‘Nero d’Avola’ grapes from Sicily, in the Menfi appellation, reflecting a modern yet authentic interpretation of this variety. It is a style that combines southern richness with elegance and clearly expressed fruitiness.
The wine is named after the purple wild flower “Plumbago” that grows around the vineyards – a symbol that reflects the depth of its color and subtle aromatic character.
The aroma is dominated by ripe plums and wild blackberries, complemented by more complex notes – jasmine, incense, black truffle, as well as subtle nuances of cocoa and spices.
The wine is full, balanced: silky, round tannins are combined with the juicy ripeness of black fruits. The texture is multi-layered: soft and gentle, but with structure.
The grapes are grown around Lago Arancio, in the Menfi region, where the Mediterranean climate, calcareous and stony soils and the influence of the sea allow for both fruit concentration and freshness.
The wine is produced according to the principles of organic farming (BIO, SOStain®). The grape juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks, maceration lasts 14 days at 25 °C, in order to obtain maximum aroma and color intensity. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to oak barrels (used), where it is aged for 10 months.
Serve at 16 - 18 °C with grilled pork, tuna steak, grilled sausages or hard mature cheeses.
