White dry
Kaseler Nies’chen Riesling Trocken GG 2018 is a VDP.Grosses Gewächs (GG) dry 'Riesling' wine from one of the Moselle's steep vineyards - Kaseler Nies'chen, growing on the banks of the Ruwer River. This 4.4 ha vineyard grows on a very steep (60-70°) southern slope, on blue slate soil.
A wine with minimal residual sugar, but maximum depth of flavor. The aroma is rich in yellow fruits - peaches, nectarines, pears, as well as wet slate minerality, citrus freshness and subtle herbal notes. The taste is concentrated, structured, detailed, strong acidity, excellent balance, long mineral aftertaste.
Why choose this wine: VDP Grosses Gewächs classification – the highest quality category for dry German wines, Kaseler Nies’chen vineyard – extremely steep sloping terraces with slate soil, ideal for Riesling, 2018 vintage – warm and concentrated, but balanced. Natural fermentation – highlights the terroir characteristics, authentic good fermentation.
Serve at 8-10°C with fish, white meat, pasta and mushroom dishes, and soft cheeses.
In spite of the substantial body, this has some nice white-fruit character and raciness that wasn’t easy to retain in this exceptionally warm vintage. Nice, herbal and berry freshness at the finish. Drink or hold.
