The Blair Athol Distillery, located in Pitlochry, in the Scottish Highlands, is one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in the region. Thanks to the spring water flowing from the slopes of Ben Vrackie, its whisky style is known for its clean, rounded, and gently nutty profile. This 13-year-old release was matured in ex-bourbon casks, preserving a balance of light fruitiness, soft vanilla sweetness, and gentle oak influence. Like all whiskies in the Old Particular series, it is non-chill filtered and free from added colouring.
The nose reveals honey, almonds, vanilla, orange zest, and malt notes. Gradually, layers of buttery caramel, dried fruit, and floral hints emerge, adding warmth and depth to the bouquet.
On the palate, it is smooth, creamy, and well-balanced, with flavours of caramel, toffee, orange marmalade, malt, and mild spice. Mid-palate brings a touch of nutty bitterness and oak spice, lending structure. The finish is medium-length, warm, and elegant, leaving traces of vanilla, dried fruit, and spice.
