Dakishvili Family (also known as Dakishvili Wine Cellar) is a family-owned winery located in Kakheti, in the village of Shalauri near Telavi, specializing in the production of limited-edition, high-quality wines. The estate was founded in 2002 by Giorgi (Gogi) Dakishvili, and the family’s winemaking tradition spans more than a century, with knowledge passed down from generation to generation.
The Dakishvili family grows grapes and produces wine directly from their own vineyards, ensuring that the character of each vintage is fully reflected in the bottle. In addition, the winery cooperates with selected partner growers, sourcing high-quality fruit for certain wines.
Annual production reaches approximately 50,000 bottles, with most wines released in small batches, giving each release a distinct identity and sense of origin. The family cellars house both production and ageing facilities, where wines undergo classical winemaking processes as well as traditional qvevri fermentation — an ancient Georgian method using clay vessels buried underground, which remains a cornerstone of Kakheti’s winemaking heritage.

The winery produces a wide range of styles, from dry white and amber wines (including kisi/qvevri styles) to red, rosé, and sparkling wines, reflecting both the diversity of the Kakheti region and the potential of local grape varieties.
As the founder, Gogi Dakishvili is known not only as the head of the family estate but also as a figure who contributed to the development of modern Georgian winemaking following the collapse of the Soviet Union. In later years, his son Temuri Dakishvili joined the project, bringing a new generation’s perspective and continuing the family’s winemaking legacy.
