White dry
Weingut Knoll Grüner Veltliner Ried Loibenberg Smaragd 2024 – a rich, concentrated and mineral white wine from one of the most famous vineyards in the Wachau. The south-facing, extremely steep Loibenberg slope is characterized by a variety of gneiss and loess soils and a warm microclimate, so the Grüner Veltliner grown here stands out for its ripe fruit character, power and expressive spiciness.
The aroma reveals ripe apricots, pears and yellow fruits, candied citrus peel and subtle nuances of exotic fruits. They are complemented by mineral notes reminiscent of tarragon, rosemary, white pepper, yeast and sea salt.
The wine is rich, dense and concentrated, but retains freshness and a clear structure. Well-integrated acidity balances the fullness of ripe fruit, while pronounced minerality gives the wine tension and precision. The aftertaste is long, multi-layered, with yellow fruit, citrus, herbal and salty mineral notes. The wine is aged for about 9 months in large oak barrels.
The Smaragd label indicates a complex, dry and long-lasting Wachau wine made from grapes that have been ripened on the vine for a longer period. Wines in this category are characterized by an alcohol content of at least 12.5% and good aging potential.
It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 9–12 °C. Goes well with fried or buttered fish, seafood, Viennese schnitzel, poultry, veal, asparagus and mildly spicy Asian dishes.
Very bright and expressive yet structured, showing aromas of coriander, honeysuckle, pineapple and candied lemons. It’s full-bodied, firm and full of tension. Tannin tautness to support the fruit and wild herbs that evolve to salty minerality at the end. Drink or hold.
