Red dry
Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Pora 2021 is one of the most elegant and subtle wines of the Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva series, born in the prestigious Pora cru vineyard, located in the southern part of the Barbaresco commune. Due to the warmer southern and southwestern exposure and calcareous clay soils, the ‘Nebbiolo’ grapes grown here create wines with expressive fruitiness, silky texture and earlier availability/consumption than some other famous Barbaresco crus.
The aroma reveals notes of ripe cherries, wild raspberries, dried roses and pansies. They are complemented by licorice, anise, orange peel, forest floor and subtle spice tones. In the glass, the wine gradually reveals new layers, combining florality, fruitiness and earthy complexity.
The wine stands out with a special harmony. The concentrated red fruit character is combined with lively acidity and precise, yet very softly integrated tannins. The elegant texture and subtle mineral character characteristic of the Pora cru give the wine a sense of sophistication, while the long aftertaste reveals nuances of cherry stones, dried herbs and spices.
Pora is one of the oldest and most highly regarded Barbaresco crus. Due to the favorable exposure here, the grapes reach excellent phenolic maturity, which is why the wines often have greater aromatic openness and silky structure. Compared to Ovello or Montestefano, Pora emphasizes elegance and fruitiness more than the harsh power of tannins.
After fermentation, the wine is aged for 36 months in large oak barrels, and then additionally matured in the bottle.
Serve at 16-18 °C. Food pairing: veal osso buco, duck, braised veal, truffled pasta, mushroom risotto, mature hard cheeses and slow-roasted lamb.
Classic and intense yet fresh, showing sweet-violet and cherry-pit aromas, this is slightly mineral and savory with graceful balsamic depth. Medium-bodied and approachable with velvety tannins wrapped in dried flowers, tight yet interwoven in the very long finish. March 2026 release. Drink or hold.
Produttori del Barbaresco, founded in 1958, now has 51 members and controls more than 100 hectares of premium Nebbiolo vineyards in Barbaresco. Each family is in full control of its land, growing Nebbiolo grapes with centuries old skill and dedication. The vinery produces a Barbaresco DOCG, a blend of Nebbiolo grapes harvested from different vineyards, and a simpler Nebbiolo Langhe suited for earlier consumption. In great vintages, nine single-vineyard Barbarescos are produced from nine classic premium sites within the Barbaresco village boundaries: Asili, Rabajà, Pora, Montestefano, Ovello, Pajè, Montefico, Muncagota, and Rio Sordo. These are the geographical names of sites where Nebbiolo grapes have always been cultivated. The name of the single-vineyards, the total number of bottles produced, and the name of the owners of the vineyards are marked on the labels. Produttori del Barbaresco, which vinifies only Nebbiolo grapes, produce around 550 000 bottles per year. In a good vintage they are divided among Barbaresco (50%), single vineyard Barbarescos (30%) and Nebbiolo Langhe (20%).
