Sarpa Oro di Poli is an aged grappa, named after the Venetian word “Sarpa”, meaning grape marc—the raw material from which grappa is made. Introduced in 1991, Sarpa Oro marked a new stage of maturity for the category: from a simple, everyday spirit to a symbol of Italian distilling culture, recognized around the world.
At the heart of this grappa line is a classic Bordeaux-style blend of grape varieties: ‘Merlot’ and ‘Cabernet’. It is artisanally distilled using steam flow heating, aiming for a clean, precise extraction of aromas. Sarpa Oro is then patiently aged in the distillery’s underground cellars among thousands of 225-litre oak barriques, where slow contact with wood rounds the structure and gives the spirit a deeper, richer profile.
On the nose, Sarpa Oro evokes a basket of exotic fruits, complemented by notes of vanilla, almonds, toasted hazelnuts, beeswax, and brown sugar. On the palate, the grappa is warm and elegantly rounded, with a gentle touch of oak spice and a clean, long-lasting finish where fruitiness meets a nutty, lightly toasted character.
We recommend serving it at 18–20 °C in a tulip-shaped glass. This is a grappa that shows best as an after-dinner digestif, when you are looking for a calm, aged spirit with deeper character.
