A classic expression of Northern Rhône ‘Syrah’, Thierry Allemand’s “Reynard 2022” reveals the power of terraced granite slopes, the depth of old vines, and a masterful minimalist approach to winemaking.
The aroma unfolds with rich notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, accented by violet, black pepper, rose petals, and subtle smoky nuances.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and deeply concentrated, yet elegant, with silky-textured tannins. The acidity is vibrant, the structure precise, and the finish long and layered, focused on pure dark berry intensity.
The vineyards are located in the “Reynard” lieu-dit within the Cornas AOC, on steep granite terraces where old vines—some over 40 to 60 years old—grow in decomposed granite soils, giving the wine its mineral backbone and depth.
Fermentation is carried out traditionally, using wild yeasts, and aging takes place for around 24 months in old oak barrels, preserving the fruit purity, structure, and authentic Cornas character.
