Crozes-Hermitage AOP is the largest appellation of the Northern Rhône, surrounding the legendary Hermitage hill and encompassing both the river valley plains and the gentle slopes around Tain-l’Hermitage. It is a region where Rhône classicism is expressed not through monumentality, but through clarity, structure, and diversity of place.
Red Crozes-Hermitage wines are made from ‘Syrah’ and offer a more approachable yet still structured expression of the variety. Here, Syrah speaks through black fruit, peppery spice, violet notes, and at times a subtle smoky nuance.

Soils across the appellation are highly diverse, ranging from stony alluvial terraces along the Rhône to clay and limestone mixtures on the slopes. This geological mosaic results in stylistic variation between sites—from lighter, more fruit-driven expressions to deeper, more structured interpretations.
