Armagnac Darroze Dne de Monturon 2003 0.2 L

46,00

Description

Hailing from the prestigious Bas-Armagnac region, the 2003 vintage from the Domaine de Monturon estate is a deep and expressive spirit crafted exclusively from 100% Baco grapes. This traditional, "old school" style Armagnac impresses with its rich body and robust, spicy character, perfectly reflecting the unique sandy soils of the terroir.

The nose reveals a fascinating and complex harmony of aromas, ranging from woody notes of tobacco and toasted bread to sweet dried prunes and apricots. On the palate, the spirit is energetic and full-bodied, distinguished by structured, slightly strict tannins and vibrant spices like cinnamon and ginger, leading to an exceptionally long, warming finish.

Best enjoyed neat at room temperature (18–20 °C) in a traditional tulip-shaped glass to fully capture its complex aromas. It beautifully complements a rich cup of espresso, intense chocolate desserts, or stands perfectly on its own for a relaxed evening.

About brand

Darroze in the world of Armagnac stands for far more than quality — it represents a philosophy. It is a family story spanning more than a century and one of the most authentic expressions of the Gascony region.

The story began at the end of the 19th century, when the Darroze family started working with local winegrowers in Gascony. However, it was in the mid-20th century, thanks to Francis Darroze, that the house took on its present identity. He understood that the true value of Armagnac lies not in volume or blending for consistency, but in specific places, soils, vintages, and the human hand behind them.

Darroze Armagnac is never blended to achieve a uniform taste profile. Each bottle reflects a single estate, a single harvest, and a single story. It is a spirit that evolves, matures, and gains complexity with time. For this reason, Darroze is often compared to great wines rather than industrial spirits.

Most Darroze Armagnacs come from the Bas-Armagnac region, considered the most refined and elegant part of the appellation. The sandy and clay-rich soils give the distillates their signature softness, aromatic depth, and long aging potential. Distillation is carried out using the traditional continuous column still, followed by slow, natural maturation in French oak barrels.

Today, Darroze is regarded as one of the most important guardians of traditional Armagnac. Its creations are highly valued by collectors, sommeliers, and spirits enthusiasts around the world.

This is not a mass-produced spirit — it is a living piece of Gascony’s history in a glass.
