Red dry
Domaine d’Eugénie Vosne-Romanée 2023 is an expression of classic Burgundian aristocracy, originating from one of the most prestigious appellations of the Côte de Nuits. This wine captures the essence of Vosne-Romanée—not demonstrative power, but inner tension, structural refinement, and long ageing potential.
The aroma is restrained yet deeply layered: red cherries, raspberries, and forest berries intertwine with notes of rose petals, spices, light incense, and damp forest floor.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, marked by expressive acidity and very fine, silky tannins. The texture is graceful yet supported by a clear backbone. The finish is long and dry, with subtle nuances of spice and minerality.
The vineyards of Vosne-Romanée are defined by a balance of limestone and clay soils, allowing ‘Pinot Noir’ to retain both aromatic precision and structural depth. Slope exposure and natural air circulation give the wine tension and longevity characteristic of this legendary appellation.
Fermentation is carried out with precision, focusing on a natural balance between fruit and texture. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels, using a restrained proportion of new oak to enhance structure without obscuring the voice of the terroir.
Serve at 15–16 °C. Pairs well with lamb, veal, delicate mushroom dishes, and mature soft cheeses.
Domaine d’Eugénie is a modern Burgundian success story where respect for tradition, exceptional terroir, and a quiet yet deliberate ambition come together to create some of the world’s most elegant Pinot Noir wines. The estate is located in the legendary village of Vosne-Romanée, a place often regarded as the spiritual heart of Burgundy.
The story of Domaine d’Eugénie began at a pivotal moment. After the passing of renowned winemaker Philippe Engel, his vineyards—already considered among the finest in the Côte de Nuits—stood at a crossroads. They were acquired by François Pinault, one of the most influential figures in the wine world and owner of the iconic Château Latour. Rather than continuing the estate mechanically, a new long-term vision was formed, rooted in respect for place, precision, and terroir expression.
It was here, on the historic grounds of Clos Frantin, that Domaine d’Eugénie was born. A modern yet understated winery was created, one whose philosophy centers entirely on allowing the land to speak, rather than imposing technique or excess intervention.
The vineyards are situated on some of Burgundy’s most prestigious slopes, characterized by limestone and clay soils. These conditions allow Pinot Noir to express not only purity of fruit but also remarkable depth and minerality. Each parcel has its own microclimate, rhythm, and personality, and every plot is vinified separately to preserve its individual character.
From the very beginning, the estate embraced a low-intervention approach. Grapes are harvested by hand, carefully sorted, and fermented gently without aggressive techniques. Balance and elegance are paramount. The wines are never heavy or overworked; instead, they are defined by clarity, structure, and exceptional aging potential.
Since 2009, biodynamic practices have been gradually introduced in parts of the vineyard, strengthening soil vitality and enhancing the natural expression of the vines. This is not a marketing gesture, but a quiet, consistent commitment whose results are clearly felt in the glass.
Domaine d’Eugénie wines embody the essence of Vosne-Romanée, characterized by:
silky yet structured tannins,
refined and deeply layered aromatics,
long, slowly unfolding finishes,
and an ability to age gracefully for decades.
Today, Domaine d’Eugénie is regarded as one of the most serious and compelling estates of the new generation in Burgundy — a producer that honors tradition while shaping the future of great Pinot Noir.
