A red Chinese tea made from unopened leaf buds (tips). Aromas of fruit dipped in dark chocolate, with a sweet flavour (notes of caramel and sweet beans). A gentle aniseed finish. Partly oxidised. Produced since the mid-20th century from the same tea trees as pu-erh.
The picked leaves are wilted, dried in the wind and then baked. They are kept rolled in a warm place until they oxidise to the desired aroma.
Brewing temperature: 95 °C.
The Chinese Tea Company began its operations when its founder, tea specialist Juyan Webster, started bringing tea from China for friends and acquaintances.
