Chateau Margaux Margaux 1er Grand Cru Classe 2006

820,00

Description

Château Margaux is one of the most iconic estates in the Médoc region of Bordeaux, uniting aristocratic structure, refined elegance, and uncompromising terroir purity. The 2006 vintage stands out for its exceptional balance between intense fruit, mineral backbone, and impressive ageing potential.

The aromatics open with blackcurrant, ripe cherry, and blackberry intensity. Depending on air exposure and decanting time, cedar, tobacco leaves, smoke, and graphite notes unfold, followed by subtle touches of liquorice and pepper spice.

On the palate, Château Margaux 2006 is medium-bodied, with a dense yet graceful texture. The tannins are polished and silky, giving the wine a beautifully defined structure. The lively acidity brings both balance and elegant freshness. The palate is dominated by dark berry ripeness, spice, smoke, and mineral nuances, all carried through to a long, deep and refined finish, with hints of earth and oak.

The vineyard is planted on a unique gravel terrace in the Médoc/Margaux areadeep gravel soils with excellent drainage over a limestone base, giving the wine minerality, pure fruit expression, and remarkable capacity to age.

The grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve fruit purity. The wine is aged for 18–20 months in French oak barrels, a portion of them new.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 16–18 °C. Pairs well with grilled entrecôte, slow-cooked lamb with rosemary and classic Bordelaise sauce, and beef cheek variations.
