Description

“Domaine Rolet Arbois Vin Jaune 2018” is a true pride of the French Jura region, also known as "yellow wine" (Vin Jaune).

In the glass, the wine showcases a clear yellow color with elegant golden reflections. The nose reveals a perfectly balanced, multifaceted aromatic bouquet, dominated by the walnuts, hazelnuts, dried fruits, and oriental spices characteristic of this style. On the palate, the wine impresses with an expressive texture and recurring piquant spicy notes, leading to an incredibly long finish.

This exceptional wine, intended for those seeking discoveries, is made exclusively from late-harvest ‘Savagnin’ grapes. The production process of this wine is one of the most intriguing traditions in the wine world. For a classic Vin Jaune to be born, the ‘Savagnin’ grapes are harvested only when they reach their absolute peak of ripeness. Following regional standards, the wine is aged in oak barrels for six years without any topping up.

During this long, slow process, a natural layer of yeast—the voile (veil)—forms in the space left by the evaporated wine. It is precisely this prolonged contact with oxygen, controlled by the yeast veil, that gives the wine its distinctive oxidative character, impossible to confuse with any other beverage in the world.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 14–16 °C with poultry dishes, Mini Mont d'Or cheese, braised veal with carrots, or walnut cake.

It is recommended to decant the wine for 2 hours before serving.

About brand

Domaine Rolet was founded in 1942 by Désiré Rolet before being passed on to his children. Today, the Domaine's vines average 45 years old and span 65ha across the Jura region of Eastern France, with vineyards in the AOCs of Arbois, Cotes du Jura, l'Etoile, and Chateau-Chalon.Classic Jura varieties are planted across steep slopes on appropriate soils; Chardonnay (light marls), Savagnin (grey marls), Poulsard (red & blue marls), Trousseau (heavy gravels) and Pinot Noir (light marls). Vines are tended through organic farming practices, and hand-harvested each year producing yields between 15-50 hl. Further sorting ensures that only the best quality grapes are seen through to barrel. Most wines are aged for around 18 months in oak, replacing a quarter of their barrels each year. The resulting wines have gained the Domaine a reputation for excellence with wine professionals and drinkers alike with their purity and concentration.
