White dry
Kir-Yianni Palpo 2025 is a rich, expressive, and fresh white wine from Florina, in northwestern Greece (PGI Florina). It is crafted from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in the "Palpo" vineyard plot, located in Agios Panteleimon within the Amindeon region.
The wine offers aromas of white blossoms and stone fruits, complemented by subtle hints of vanilla from oak aging. It is rich and full-bodied, with an oily texture balanced by lively acidity. The finish is exceptionally long, retaining the wine's expressive fruit character and freshness.
Cold maceration is applied prior to fermentation. The wine is fermented in 225-liter French oak barrels—half of which are new, while the others are second- or third-fill. It is subsequently aged in these barrels for 6 months on its fine lees, with occasional gentle stirring (*bâtonnage*), which enhances the wine's texture and richness.
Residual sugar: 1.6 g/l
Serve at 10–12 °C. Recommended pairings include grilled white meat, lobster, pumpkin ravioli, mushrooms in a white sauce, or aged semi-hard cheeses.
The history of Kir-Yianni Winery dates back to 1997, when one of the most influential personalities in the Greek wine world, Yiannis Boutaris, separated from his famous grandfather, the Boutari Wine Group, founded in 1879. Currently, his charismatic son, Stellios Boutaris, who is a fifth-generation winemaker, runs the Kir-Yianni winery, whose vineyards are located on the slopes of Mount Vermio, 300-700 meters above sea level. The two main vineyards on the farm, dominated by the local Xinomavro grape, are in the appeals of the Greek region of Amyndeon and Naoussa.
