The grapes for this wine are grown in different vineyards located in the Vittoria region of Sicily — Dorilli and Mogli. The Dorilli vineyard ripens 'Nero d'Avola' grapes, while 'Frappato' berries are cultivated in the Mogli vineyard. The soil of these vineyards is dominated by red sandstone formations free of stones. Only somewhat deeper can one find hard limestone earth.
The fermentation of the ripe grape juice takes place in stainless steel tanks. Maceration with the skins lasts 14 days. After fermentation is complete, ageing also continues in stainless steel tanks. This preserves the fruity flavour of the wine, which reflects the terroir characteristics of Sicily's southern coast.
This wine of intense cherry-red colour displays aromas of wild red berries. Notes of wild cherry and strawberry intertwine with hints of mulberry and black pepper. The palate is rich and energetic, with light yet ripe tannins.
Serve at 14–16 °C with tuna, mushroom dishes or traditional Italian dishes, such as pizza with cured ham.
