Kažums Winery Varduve White 2024 is a cold-climate white wine, where the main thing is not massive concentration, but freshness, clear fruitiness and a lively acid rhythm. The aroma - notes of green apples, limes, white flowers, complemented by slightly riper pear or peach undertones. The wine is light-bodied, fresh, with clear acidity and a clean, straight aftertaste - this style best suits both the profile of the ‘Varduva’ variety and the northern direction of the Kažums winery.
Serve at 10-12°C with lighter white fish, asparagus, soft goat and coffee milk cheeses, and vegetable salads.
Kažums Winery is a unique Latvian cold-climate winery located in the Bauska region, in Zemgale. It is created by winemaker Gatis Kužums, who continues the family connection with viticulture: the history of the farm is associated with his father Andrejs Kužums, who started growing grapes back in the 1970s. Today, the farm is known not only as a winery, but also as a serious center for testing and selecting grape varieties - more than 300 varieties are grown here, and the collection is supplemented with new ones every year.
The uniqueness of the winery lies in its clear philosophy: wine is made only from grapes, and the grapes themselves are grown only in Zemgale, in search of varieties that are best suited to the Latvian climate. Because of this, Kažums Winery is important not only as a producer, but also as one of the brightest examples of northern viticulture in the Baltic region - it combines selection, experiments and the search for local terroir. The winery's style is generally associated with a fresh, clean expression of fruit and an authentic Nordic character.
