Rudi Ruttger Riesling Trocken Neuleininger Feuermannchen Pfalz 2023

17,00

Description

Rudi Rüttger Riesling Trocken Neuleininger Feuermännchen Pfalz 2023 - wine from a separate vineyard ('Lage') growing on the Neuleininger Feuermännchen slope. The soil of this vineyard consists of calcareous marl, loess and sandstone, which give the wine a pronounced minerality and a refreshing acid structure.

The bouquet reveals green apples, lemons, grapefruits and white peaches. Alongside the fruity notes, nuances of fennel, tarragon, white pepper and white flowers are felt. The wine is characterized by a subtle, classic 'Riesling' oil tone, which remains restrained and elegant in this vintage.

The wine is lively, light, energetic and precise. Bright acidity provides energy, while nuances of grapefruit bitterness and lemon peel add to the complexity of the taste. The aftertaste reveals the minerality of flint, salts and stones. Despite the dryness, the low residual sugar content gives the wine harmony and balances the acidity.

Neuleininger Feuermännchen is one of the most interesting vineyard areas in the Neuleiningen area. The sheltered slope and the combination of calcareous soils allow the Riesling grapes to remain fresh even in warmer years, so the wine is not only fruity but also has an expressive minerality.

The wine is produced to preserve the purest Riesling character. After a short cold maceration, fermentation takes place at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks.

The residual sugar content in the wine is 5.0 g/l, the acidity is 7.3 g/l.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 10–12 °C. Goes well with oysters, steamed or grilled white fish, shrimp, sushi, fresh goat's milk cheeses, asparagus and Asian cuisine.

About brand

The family has been dedicated to winemaking since 1643. Rudolph Rüttger is the main responsible for the wines. Before joining the family business, he gained experience at home and abroad. After completing his studies at the HBLA Klosterneuburg, he developed some fresh ideas, influenced by jobs at wineries in Austria, New Zealand, and Germany. He now takes care of the works in cellar and vineyards with the help of his father Heinrich Rüttger, also his mother Theresa is often helping out. This is a family business: his siblings Heinrich and Katharina especially love to help out when there are winefest-times.
