Description

Gramona Vi de Glass Gewürztraminer Dolç 2022 is an elegant and refined sweet wine created by one of the best Spanish wine houses, Gramona. This wine is made from Gewürztraminer grapes grown in the sunny Penedès region, using the exclusive Vi de Glass (artificial refrigeration) technology, which allows you to extract the natural sweetness of the grapes and their intense flavor.

The wine is distinguished by its rich golden color with subtle amber hues. The aroma is dominated by tropical fruits - lychees, peaches, pineapples, along with rose petals, honey and a subtle hint of spices. The taste of the wine is extremely balanced - the sweetness is perfectly combined with refreshing acidity, creating a long-lasting aftertaste.

The wine is made only from selected, fully ripe Gewürztraminer grapes, which are characterized by an intense aroma and natural sugar content. The harvest is hand-harvested in order to protect the berries from damage and ensure the highest quality.

Immediately after harvesting, the grapes are frozen at extremely low temperatures (down to -15°C) in special chambers that recreate the natural conditions of ice wine. Unlike traditional Eiswein, where the grapes freeze on the vine, Gramona uses artificial refrigeration, which provides greater production stability and quality control.

The frozen grapes are pressed very slowly and gently to obtain a concentrated must, which is rich in natural sugar and aromatic substances. The water, which has turned into ice, remains in the pomace, making the must extremely sweet and rich.

Fermentation takes place at low temperatures, usually lasting several weeks or even months. Since the must is very high in sugar, fermentation slows down and some of the sugar remains unfermented, which gives the wine its natural sweetness.

After fermentation, the wine rests for some time in stainless steel tanks to maintain freshness, aromatic purity and a delicate balance of sweetness and acidity.

Limited production – due to the complex and expensive process, not much of this wine is made

Serving recommendations

Serve at 8-10°C with white meat with baked apricots or pineapple, desserts, blue cheese, duck and goose liver.

About brand

Gramona is one of the most prestigious Spanish sparkling wine producers, with over a century of viticultural tradition in the Penedès region of Catalonia. The family winery has become famous for its commitment to quality, ecology and the philosophy of long-aged wines.

Organic vineyards and biodynamic philosophy

Gramona vineyards are cultivated organically and biodynamically, respecting the principles of nature. The family's approach to viticulture is based on a belief in the cycles of the moon and the influence of the universe on the soil and vines.

History and tradition: from 1881 to today

In 1945, Bartomeu and Josep Lluís Gramona began a new era in winemaking - they were the first to establish the concept of long-aged sparkling wines in Spain.

In 1951, the first Gramona III Lustros was created, released in 1961.

In 2021 The Gramona family celebrated 100 years as a sparkling wine producer and 140 years as a grape grower.

Today, the Gramona story is continued by the fifth and sixth generations – Jaume, Roc and Leonard Gramona – following the principles of sustainability and quality.

Traditional method and exceptional quality

Gramona wines are produced using the traditional method (Méthode Traditionnelle), identical to champagne production, and their maturation period ranges from 18 months to even 12 years – more than double the standard Cava requirements.

What makes Gramona sparkling wines stand out?

In addition to the traditional Cava grapes (Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Parellada), they also use Chardonnay, which gives it an elegant and international style.

Taste: aromas of nuts, freshly baked pastries and autolysis (yeast decomposition).

Naturally low in sugar, but with a balanced and delicate acidity.

A new generation of quality: Corpinnat

After a long-standing commitment to improving Cava’s reputation, in 2019 Gramona left the official DO Cava designation of origin and became one of the founding members of the Corpinnat association. Corpinnat means “born in the heart” and represents the highest quality sparkling wines produced exclusively in the Penedès region, following strict organic production and long-term maturation requirements.
