Red dry
The Niepoort Nat Cool Bairrada Red DOC 2023 is a refreshingly different take on the Baga grape that breaks the mold with its vibrant fruitiness and incredible drinkability. This wine is your perfect partner for any occasion, designed to be enjoyed effortlessly.
This isn't your typical inky, tannic Baga. Instead, you'll find this light red wine has a very fruity character with freshness and floral notes. It pours light in color, offering aromas of red fruits, some spice, and a mineral undertone. On the palate, it's fresh, truly enticing, and full of precision.
Part of Dirk Niepoort's NAT'Cool! range, this wine embraces a philosophy of natural winemaking, low alcohol, and pure terroir expression. It's made from 40-100 year old Baga vines grown in Bairrada's limestone-laced, clay soils.
The grapes are harvested from various old vineyard blocks, then fermented in stainless steel for five weeks with carbonic maceration. After malolactic fermentation and some aging in these tanks, the wine is bottled unfiltered, preserving its vibrant fruit purity.
Serve lightly chilled at 12-14°C with light and uncomplicated (comfort food) dishes: ham, pizzas, pastas, tuna.
Niepoort is an independent family business since 1842. Through five generations, the business passed successfully from one Niepoort to the next Niepoort and in most cases older and younger generation worked side by side for a long period. At this time, we are enthusiastically looking forward to the future sixth generation, anticipating close collaboration
