Markellos – A Four-Generation Legacy of Greek Olive Oil Craft
The history of Markellos began in 1932, when Dimitris Markellos planted the first olive trees and started producing olive oil for his family. Since then, the olive tree has become an integral part of the family’s identity and a symbol of continuity across generations.
In 2014, the estate was taken over by the fourth generation – cousins Nikos, Christos, Michalis, and Nikos. That year marked a new chapter in the company’s development: the olive mill was modernised, production facilities were upgraded, and the first branded product, “Soligea” olive oil, was introduced, becoming the modern expression of the Markellos identity.
Where Tradition Meets Modern Technology
What distinguishes Markellos is the ability to combine long-standing experience with contemporary technology. Investments in new olive groves and advanced cold-extraction equipment ensure a consistently high level of extra virgin Greek olive oil, while preserving the natural character of the fruit.

Markellos’ activity is closely linked to responsibility toward the local community. The company actively supports cultural and sports initiatives, creates local employment, and contributes to regional development.
Great importance is also placed on sustainability. Recyclable packaging is used, production processes are continuously optimised, and every effort is made to minimise environmental impact. This is not a separate strategy, but a natural extension of the family’s respect for nature and their way of working.
