Chateau Cos Labory

1–1 of 1

Château Cos-Labory is a classic Bordeaux wine estate in the prestigious Saint-Estèphe appellation, renowned for its powerful, structured, and long-lived red wines. The estate is an important part of the Saint-Estèphe tradition, preserving the authentic character of the region.

The vineyards of Cos-Labory are planted on expressive soil layers typical of the appellation: gravelly soils interwoven with bands of clay. This soil mosaic provides the wines with strong structure, a clear fruit profile, and excellent ageing potential. Wines from these parcels display a firm backbone, deep aromatic complexity, and the ability to mature gracefully over decades.

The main grape varieties cultivated on the estate are ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’, ‘Merlot’, and ‘Petit Verdot’. Blended in proportions that reflect the character of each vintage, they give the wines elegance, tannic structure, and depth of flavor. The Saint-Estèphe style is often defined by firm tannins, a full-bodied character, and the capacity for long development in bottle.

Vineyard management at the estate is meticulous and consistent: grapes are harvested by hand, and fruit from different parcels is selected individually to preserve the nuances of each terroir. In the winemaking process, traditional Bordeaux fermentation is combined with modern technological control, helping to maintain fruit purity, tannin balance, and structural integrity.

After fermentation, the wines are aged in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new, providing additional layers of structure and aromatic complexity. Long and carefully managed ageing allows Cos-Labory wines to retain their intensity and gives them the potential to mature for many years.

Cos-Labory wines are appreciated for their clear structure, rich fruit expression, and ability to faithfully convey the voice of the Saint-Estèphe terroir. They pair beautifully with red meat dishes, stews, and aged cheeses, and are also well suited for long-term cellaring.
