Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is one of the most distinguished Burgundy Grand Cru appellations, located on the legendary Montrachet hill within the boundaries of the Puligny-Montrachet commune. It is an exceptionally small appellation (around 3.7 hectares) and has historically been regarded as a more refined interpretation of Bâtard-Montrachet, defined by greater precision and elegance.
The appellation is dedicated to ‘Chardonnay’, which here expresses itself not through power, but through tension, purity, and structural balance. Wines from Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet are often described as fresher and more lifted than their neighbors, with a clearly defined mineral core and a long, restrained evolution.

These are wines that open slowly, requiring time in the glass, and are frequently valued more for their structure than for immediate aromatic impact.
The soils are composed of a mixture of limestone and clay. The slope exposure and natural air circulation allow the vines to retain acid balance even in riper vintages, giving Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet wines their renowned longevity and capacity to evolve gracefully over decades.
