Description

This is a great choice for those who like complex, heavy wines with a long aftertaste. The aroma is dominated by black cherries, blackberries, plums, along with notes of dried fruits (raisins, figs) and cinnamon. In the mouth, the wine is complex, with accents of dried fruits and dark chocolate, the long aftertaste of which is provided by firm tannins.

Wine from concentrated September selections, which are hand-picked at the end of the skin, left to dry for about 12 days, so that the aromas and taste properties are enhanced. Fermentation was carried out with the skins, in order to obtain maximum color and flavor intensity. The wine was aged for 2 years in small and 2 years in large oak barrels.

Residual sugar content - 2.0 g/l.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 16-20°C with the classic Italian stew Osso Buco, cheeses: Parmigiano Reggiano, Pecorino Romano or Gouda, and also recommended with thick beef stew.

James Suckling

An intense and complex wine with aromas of licorice, smoke, dried flowers, fresh red currants, red cherries and a touch of bay leaves. Chewy on the palate, with a medium to full body, firm chalky tannins and crisp acidity. Best after 2026.

About brand

Azienda Agricola Brigaldara is a family-owned winery located near the village of San Floriano, in the Marano della Valpolicella valley, within one of Italy’s most renowned wine regions – the Valpolicella Classico DOCG zone, north of Verona.

Founded in 1979, this family-run estate has been producing world-class wines for more than four decades, preserving the deep-rooted traditions of Valpolicella Classico while embracing sustainable viticulture.

Brigaldara manages approximately 50 hectares of land, planted with native grape varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and others, which are used to produce Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, Valpolicella Superiore, Ripasso, and other prestigious wines. In addition to vineyards, the estate also cultivates olive trees, from which top-quality extra virgin olive oil is produced.

While part of the vineyard land is leased, all vineyards are meticulously managed by Brigaldara’s professional team, ensuring optimal vine balance and impeccable grape quality.

Thanks to its honest pricing, authenticity, and consistently high quality, Brigaldara is highly regarded by wine experts, restaurants, and collectors worldwide. The winery regularly appears on lists of the best Valpolicella producers and receives high ratings from James Suckling, Wine Spectator, Vinous, Falstaff, and other leading wine publications.
