Red dry
Vigno is a fiedl blend of Carignan from an old, 4.5-hectare vineyard planted in 1955 with small ammounts of Cabenet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cinsault and Carmenere. It is a complex wine with great ageing potential that shows all the promise of this classic variety from Maule.
It is aromatically complex, with aromas ranging from black and red fruit through to spices and herbs, along with a marked mineral note, which is characteristic of granitic soils. The mouth is intense with fresh, ripe fruit and a linear texture accompanied by angular tannins and a vibrant acidity that lengthens the finish.
Serve at 16 - 18 °C with meat dishes with richer sauces, wild mushroom stews, hard cheeses.
The 2022 De Martino was a clear standout within the VIGNO collective. It was sourced from a Cariñena-dominant field blend in Sauzal containing Malbec, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère. It was fully destemmed, fermented in tank and aged in foudre for two years. Opening with a coiled, reticent nose, it gradually unfolds a vibrant, gorgeous bouquet with fresh herbs, ripe red fruit, cigar smoke and wet stone aromas with a distinctly savory undertone. The palate perfectly balances a plush texture and vibrant energy, presented with just enough polish and precision but not so much that it feels over-engineered. It culminates with succulent acidity and elegantly drying tannins that linger through a long, layered and nuanced finish. Mar 13, 2025
Once again, a fresh, nervy vigno from De Martino that won't tire you despite the deep ruby-purple color. Freshly crushed blueberries, racy sour cherries, blue plums and touches of blue flowers, graphite, tomato leaves and hibiscus. Medium-bodied on the palate with fresh, fine tannins and a mouthwatering finish. Racy, bright and very nervy. 85% carignan with a mix of malbec and grapes like cinsault and pais. From Sauzal. So delicious now, but will hold. Feb 14, 2024
