Description

Georg Breuer Berg Rottland Rudesheim Riesling Qba 2022 - is made from grapes grown in the Berg Rottland vineyard - one of the most famous areas of the Rüdesheim region, famous for its unique terroir. The fertile soil of slate, clay and sandstone gives the wine a special mineral character, structure and longevity.

The bouquet of aromas reveals delicate notes of walnut bark, wild thyme and fresh apples, accompanied by a barely perceptible, but memorable - the smell of success. The taste of the wine is airy, mineral, distinguished by lively acidity and excellent balance. This is a wine with long potential for aging in the bottle.

The 2022 harvest was characterized by ideal ripening dynamics: warm days and cool nights helped maintain the acid balance, important for the high-quality Riesling style.

The grapes are hand-picked to ensure only the best quality berries are selected. The harvest is usually carried out in October, when the berries are fully ripe, but have not lost their natural acidity.

After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to maintain the freshness and vigor of the aromas. Local yeasts are used during fermentation.

The wine is aged on its lees (sur lie), which helps to obtain depth, texture and complexity of taste.

Residual sugar content: 2.5–2.6 g/l,

Acid content: 7.1 g/l

Serving recommendations

Serve at 9-10 °C with fried fish with a fatty sauce, seafood, and fatty soft cheeses.

James Suckling

Deep and ripe, but still so bright, this has stunning aromas of dried pear, bergamot and vermouth. Extraordinary concentration and structure for just 11.5% alcohol. Then comes the very long, compact and stony finish. Built for the ages. Limited production. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

Since the 1980s, Weingut Georg Breuer has established itself as one of the leading high-quality producers in the Rheingau. The estate cultivates approximately 40 hectares of vineyards across Rüdesheim, Rauenthal, and Lorch, with over 65% located on steep slopes.

Winemaking Philosophy

Weingut Georg Breuer is dedicated to producing elegant, dry Riesling wines with a strong sense of terroir. The quality pyramid ranges from Estate and village-level Riesling to the premium Terra Montosa cuvée and single-vineyard Grand Cru wines. The focus lies on low yields (especially 15–25 hl/ha in top sites), rigorous hand selection of healthy ripe grapes, spontaneous fermentation, and ageing in traditional large oak casks.

The winery practices sustainable viticulture and is certified under the FAIR’N GREEN standard — one of the strictest sustainability certifications in Germany.

Wine Style

Georg Breuer Rieslings are characterized by purity, finesse, vibrant minerality, and excellent structure. They offer great drinking pleasure when young, yet possess the balance, acidity, and depth to age gracefully for 15–30+ years.

Weingut Georg Breuer represents classic, high-end Rheingau winemaking at its best — refined, terroir-driven, and timeless.
