White dry
Jurtschitsch Grüner Veltliner Ried Loiserberg ErsteLage KamptalDAC 2003 - comes from Jurtschitsch's top-level Erste Lage vineyard in Loiserberg (Kamptal), one of the highest and coolest areas in the region. The grapes grow on sandy and mica soils, ideal conditions for the clean, mineral elegance of the GrüVe style.
Aroma: aromatic nuances of white peach and citrus blossom intertwine with a subtle spicy character of herbs and white pepper.
Taste: firm, fresh, bright kiwi, citrus, a hint of marmalade in the mouth. Salty minerality on the aftertaste. Elegant acid backbone emphasizes the structure even after many years.
The harvest is hand-picked. The fermentation of the juice begins spontaneously, using natural yeasts. Fermentation takes place in large local oak barrels (foudres).
The temperature is controlled naturally, allowing the process to proceed slowly and evenly. The wine is aged for about 6-10 months on its lees (sur lie). Maturation takes place in large oak barrels.
Serve at 10-12 °C. The bright fruitiness of the wine particularly emphasizes the delicacy of white meat, such as poultry or veal, and the wine goes well with many fish dishes.
The Jurtschitsch winery is located in the historic Sonnhof estate in the north of Austria, in the famous Kamptal wine region. The history of the estate's cellars dates back to the 14th century, when the land was worked by monks. In 1868, the estate was purchased by the Jurtschitsch family, who have since then nurtured the tradition of winemaking with respect for nature and innovation.
Leaders in innovation in Austrian winemaking
The Jurtschitsch winery has long been one of the most progressive in Kamptal. They were the first in the region to:
Filter and bottle the wine themselves (previously this was done by intermediaries)
Organic winemaking - since 1972
Promoting wines from individual vineyards in order to reveal the terroir - the influence of soil, climate and location on the taste of the wine
Today, the name Jurtschitsch stands for unrivaled quality, stability and sustainability worldwide.
Vineyards and main grape varieties
Most of the vineyards are dedicated to white grape varieties, and the winery pays special attention to:
Grüner Veltliner - the flagship of the Kamptal region, known for its minerality and freshness
Riesling - an expressive, complex and long-maturing wine
The family carefully works with single-vineyard wines, emphasizing the natural diversity and terroir influence - this is highly appreciated among wine experts and collectors.
GruVe - art and wine in one
Since 1987, Jurtschitsch has been presenting a special GruVe Grüner Veltliner wine every year, the label of which is designed by a different artist every year. It is not only a high-quality dry white wine, but also an art project that attracts creative and wine lovers all over the world.
