Niepoort Charme Douro DOC 2023 is a rare and exceptional wine that masterfully blends Douro's ancient vines with a refined, Burgundian elegance. This unique creation promises a truly sophisticated and memorable experience for any discerning palate.
This wine displays a light grenade hue. Its delicate nose offers aromas of cherries and strawberries, with subtle notes of old barrels, providing a superb, rustic character. In the mouth, primary fruit aromas, especially cherries, come through with a silky texture complemented by rustic notes from the old barrels, giving the wine structure and a long, refreshing finish.
Charme is the ultimate interpretation of Dirk Niepoort’s strong passion for Burgundy, a signature wine produced from the very old, sheltered vines of the Mendiz Valley, in the heart of the Pinhão river valley. It's the only still wine made at the Vale de Mendiz winery, in its historical round granite wine lagares.
Serve at 16-18 °C with wild mushroom risotto, roasted venison with juniper berries, or a hearty wild boar stew.
Niepoort is an independent family business since 1842. Through five generations, the business passed successfully from one Niepoort to the next Niepoort and in most cases older and younger generation worked side by side for a long period.
