“Tiara Branco” is a wine crafted from old, mixed vineyards located high in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior subregions, where native white varieties such as ‘Rabigato’, ‘Códega do Larinho’, ‘Gouveio’, ‘Viosinho’, and others thrive. This blend allows the wine to maintain tension, minerality, and natural elegance — hallmarks of the Niepoort style.
The aroma reveals notes of white flowers, lemon zest, green apple, and pear, complemented by a delicate hint of herbs. The bouquet is fresh, clean, and precise, reflecting the cool climate and natural purity of Douro’s high-altitude vineyards.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, showing vibrant acidity, a creamy yet delicate texture, and a long, refreshing finish where citrus energy, salty minerality, and gentle herbal nuances intertwine. It’s a wine that combines structure with finesse – clear, understated, and unfolding in elegant layers.
The vines grow high in the mountains, between 600 and 800 meters above sea level, where granite and schist soils impart expressive texture and natural freshness. This terroir helps preserve acidity even in warmer vintages, giving “Tiara Branco” its remarkable balance and longevity.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and small old oak barrels, using wild yeasts, without filtration or clarification. The wine is aged on lees for about eight months, gaining extra texture and aromatic depth while preserving the pure, natural character of Douro.
Serve at 10–12 °C with grilled sea bream with lemon butter, lamb kebabs with mint and pomegranate seeds, or mature Portuguese goat's cheese (e.g., Queijo de Serra).
Niepoort is an independent family business since 1842. Through five generations, the business passed successfully from one Niepoort to the next Niepoort and in most cases older and younger generation worked side by side for a long period. At this time, we are enthusiastically looking forward to the future sixth generation, anticipating close collaboration
