Wijngaard is a family-owned business with centuries-old traditions in cheese making. What makes these cheeses exceptional is the use of only fully natural ingredients and exclusively natural aging conditions—each cheese matures according to the natural cycle of temperature changes dictated by nature.
These cheeses are renowned worldwide for their remarkably intense and expressive flavors. Only summer milk is used in production, as animals fed on fresh grass produce a gentler, higher-quality milk, which also allows the cheese to mature more harmoniously.
Read moreReypenaer cheeses are aged in a cheese warehouse that is more than a hundred years old. They mature for one to three years, a process that allows them to be considered lactose-free, as lactose naturally breaks down during long aging.
Wijngaard cheeses, meanwhile, are matured in caves connected to the historic cheese warehouse. After an initial aging period, the cheeses are coated with herbs or spices, whose aromas slowly permeate the cheese over time—resulting in products with bold, distinctive, and layered flavors.
