Red dry
"Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec" is like a calling card of the "Dominio del Plata" estate and the pride of winemaker Susana Balbo.
This wine is distinguished by blueberry, cassis, and blackberry aromas, complemented by floral and tobacco accents. On the palate, depth and tannin concentration are felt. It's an intense and fruity wine with a long finish.
The 2016 "Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec" was made from the Los Chacayes vineyard, located in the Uco Valley. Since the wine can be made from different vineyards each year, the word "nómade" appears in its name.
The wine was fermented in a 6500-liter oak vat with native yeasts and aged for 16 months in French oak barrels (80% new, 20% second use).
Serve at 16-18 °C with grilled, roasted or smoked preparations. All sorts of meats, specially red meats and pork. Hard and smoked cheeses. Spicy or hot preparations, especially those with pepper. Grilled vegetables and funghi.
To describe this wine as something special is of course an understatement - it is superb. I first tasted this Nosotros a few years back. It was at the Argentine Ambassador's residence in London at a big tasting where we tasted around 100 different Argentine wines. This Nosotros was head and shoulders above every other wine there. I was fortunate to get hold of some stock and have been stocking it ever since. Very possibly the finest wine to come out of Argentina. Susana Balbo has since released two blended wines in her Nosotros range to complement this straight Malbec. If you have deep pockets they are well worth trying to experience possibly the very best Argentine red wines available.
The 2016 Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec is from a very stony vineyard in Los Chacayes this vintage. I noticed the unusual freshness of the year, which helped to integrate the oak in a nice way. The wine is modern and clean, with very good balance, expressive and tasty, with some smoky and toasted flavors in the finish. 10,000 bottles were filled in September 2018.
