White dry
La Rioja Alta Lagar de Fornelos Lindeiros Rias Baixas 2022 - wine made from 'Albariño' grapes grown in the 3.8 ha vineyard "Finca Troviscoso", in the Cambados district (vines planted in 1987) on a granite base. A wine that reflects the identity of the place and the terroir "on the border" - between the continent and the Atlantic Ocean. 2022 - this year was characterized by a warmer and drier climate than usual, so the harvest was earlier.
The aroma is dominated by clean, stone tones: green apples, peach stone, lemon peel, white flowers, mineral salty notes ("cold granite").
In the mouth, the wine has a creamy texture, enveloping, but maintaining freshness. The tones of white stone fruits merge with saltiness, a slight "sea breeze" sensation and a long, elegant aftertaste.
Fermentation was carried out at 15 °C in three types of vessels: 15% French oak “bocoyes” (400 l), 10% concrete egg-shaped 600 l, and 75% stainless steel. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 12 months with the yeast in the same tanks. Bottled in July 2024.
Serve at 8–10 °C. Goes well with fresh oysters and mussels; sea bass, dorado or flounder baked with herbs.; Shrimps with olive oil and lemon zest. Asian salad with mango, coriander and rice noodles, squid rings in tempura, risotto with peas and saffron. Fresh goat's milk cheese: Bucheron or chèvre with herbs, white fish tartare or ceviche.
A complex expression of Rias Baixas that’s full of minerals, golden kiwis, apricots, kumquats, oyster shells and a touch of spices. Quite intense and saline but still supple in nature, with a full body and a round, lengthy finish. Serious. 100% albarino from a 3.8-hectare Troviscoso vineyard in Salnes. Drink or hold.
Bodegas La Rioja Alta is undoubtedly a representative of old Rioja, exceptionally valuing and cultivating the region's traditional winemaking methods. Their “Gran Reserva” wine is aged for no less than six years in barrel and a further two years in bottle before reaching the consumer, embodying patience and mastery. The high-altitude vineyards of La Rioja Alta, with their unique conditions, lend a subtlety to the wines, sometimes even reminiscent of Burgundy’s ‘Pinot Noir’. While the La Rioja Alta group also includes wineries in Galicia (Rias Baixas) and Ribera del Duero (Burgos), it is their traditional Rioja style that remains their hallmark.
