Description

Domaine Rolet Arbois Savagnin Ouillé 2024 - a classic Jura ‘Savagnin’, revealing a more modern and refreshing style of this historic variety. The word “Ouillé” in Jura winemaking means that during maturation, barrels are regularly topped up with wine, thus protecting it from oxidation and allowing it to maintain purer fruitiness, brighter acidity and a more accurate expression of the terroir.

The aroma reveals notes of lemon peel, green apples, white peaches and pears, complemented by tones of roasted almonds, butter, delicate spices and chalky minerality. The wine is structured and very lively - bright acidity is combined with a soft texture and a long, mineral aftertaste.

The grapes are grown in the Arbois AOC region, where marl and limestone soils prevail - one of the most important Jura terroirs for this variety. Domaine Rolet is considered one of the historically most important wineries in the region, having significantly contributed to the reputation of Jura wines in the world.

The wine is fermented and aged in oak barrels for about 9 months.

Serving recommendations

It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 11–13 °C. It goes well with seafood, white fish dishes, trout, white meat, Asian cuisine or mature Jura cheeses, especially Comté.

About brand

Domaine Rolet was founded in 1942 by Désiré Rolet before being passed on to his children. Today, the Domaine's vines average 45 years old and span 65ha across the Jura region of Eastern France, with vineyards in the AOCs of Arbois, Cotes du Jura, l'Etoile, and Chateau-Chalon.Classic Jura varieties are planted across steep slopes on appropriate soils; Chardonnay (light marls), Savagnin (grey marls), Poulsard (red & blue marls), Trousseau (heavy gravels) and Pinot Noir (light marls). Vines are tended through organic farming practices, and hand-harvested each year producing yields between 15-50 hl. Further sorting ensures that only the best quality grapes are seen through to barrel. Most wines are aged for around 18 months in oak, replacing a quarter of their barrels each year. The resulting wines have gained the Domaine a reputation for excellence with wine professionals and drinkers alike with their purity and concentration.
