Sparkling dry
For aficionados of truly expressive “Pinot Noir” Champagnes, the Eric Rodez Les Beurys Pinot Noir Ambonnay Grand Cru 2017 is an essential acquisition. This rare, single-vineyard bottling from a top Grand Cru site showcases the powerful elegance of Ambonnay's red grape, reflecting both its terroir and Eric Rodez's distinctive winemaking philosophy.
This exceptional Champagne displays a light golden colour. Its captivating aromas feature pear, tangerine, dried white flowers, cherry, and yellow plum, elegantly framed by woody tones and blanched almond. On the palate, it is smooth, satin-like, and full-bodied, offering a fruity and mineral profile with noticeable acidity and a long, expressive finish.
The grapes for this cuvée are sourced exclusively from the Les Beurys plot, part of Rodez's 6 hectares located on a plateau southeast of Reims in the Grand Cru Ambonnay commune within the Montagne de Reims region. With an eastern exposure and limestone soils, the 35-year-old vines yield fruit of remarkable character.
Following a hand harvest, the wine undergoes gentle pressing with a traditional vertical Champagne press. Notably, 95% of the primary fermentation takes place in oak barrels, and importantly, malolactic fermentation is not carried out, preserving its inherent vibrancy. The Champagne then ages for 5 years on yeast sediment in bottles, building complexity and a fine perlage.

Eric Rodez – an eighth-generation grape grower, is based in the kingdom of ‘Pinot Noir’ grapes, the village of Ambonnay, classified as a top Grand Cru. His estate spans just 6 hectares of mature vineyards, from which about 40,000 bottles of champagne are produced annually. Nearly 80 percent of the wine's primary fermentation takes place in Burgundian oak barrels, and a large proportion (around 70%) of reserve wines are used for the champagnes.
The Eric Rodez Champagne house is characterized by sustainability and responsibility towards nature and future generations. They completely avoid herbicides and pesticides, and the vineyards are managed according to organic and biodynamic principles. A minimal amount of sulfites is used, and even some champagne production choices are driven by their environmental friendliness (which is why malolactic fermentation is not blocked).
