Jean-Paul Hébrart Brut Blanc de Blanc, a Champagne from the prestigious Premier Cru Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. This Champagne, born near the famous "Philipponnat" vineyards, shares a similar terroir, ensuring exceptional quality, while maintaining an attractive price.
Aromas are dominated by notes of yellow plums and white peaches, complemented by fresh aromas of grapefruit and lemon peel. The complex taste reveals nuances of spices and ripe fruits.
Although Mareuil-sur-Aÿ is best known for its 'Pinot Noir' grapes, this Champagne is made from grapes from exceptional 'Chardonnay' plots. 90% of the 'Chardonnay' grow on the steep slopes of Premier Cru Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, while the remaining 10% come from the Grand Cru villages of Chouilly and Oiry. The Champagne is aged on lees for 30 months.
Dosage 6.5 g/l.
Serve at 6-8 °C as an aperitif, with fleshier fish, lightly smoked eel, langoustine, meaty oysters.
Disgorged in May 2020, the new release of Hébrart's NV Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru wafts from the glass with inviting aromas of Anjou pear, white peach, linden and brioche. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and enveloping, it's bright and precise, with racy acids, a pinpoint mousse and a long, chalky finish. It's a touch drier than previous renditions (which were typically dosed as brut), and that really foregrounds the pristine quality of the fruit.
Jean-Paul Hébrart took over the management of the Champagne Marc Hébrart estate from his father, Marc Hébrart, in 1997. The estate is located in the Vallée de la Marne subregion of Champagne. Marc Hébrart began producing champagne under his own name in 1964. Today, the family owns 14 hectares of vineyards spread across 65 plots in six villages: 1er Cru vineyards in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Avenay-Val-d'Or, and Bisseuil, as well as Grand Cru villages in Aÿ, Chouilly, and Oiry in the Côte des Blancs region.
The "Spécial Club Champagne" represents the highest classification level that grower-producers can achieve. Membership in this exclusive club requires strict adherence to rigorous quality standards, with an intensive, multi-stage inspection process that begins each year in early February. Marc Hébrart has been a member of Club Trésors de Champagne, also known as "Spécial Club," since 1985.
Wine Style
Hébrart Champagnes are full-bodied and expressive, yet not heavy. The entire range is of consistently high quality and offers an excellent price-to-quality ratio.
Prestigious Vineyards
The winery owns prestigious vineyards, some acquired as early as 1962. Among them, the most notable are:
These are complemented by lesser-known but uniquely expressive vineyards in Avenay-Val-d'Or and Bisseuil.
Aging and Consumption Period
Jean-Paul Hébrart Champagnes are perfectly balanced and enjoyable to drink immediately, while also having the potential to age and develop beautifully over time. For example, "Spécial Club" Champagnes are aged for 36 months before release, adding extra complexity and depth.
