Red sweet
Kracher Z Auslese Burgenland 2022 – sweet red wine from Burgenland, Austria, made from ‘Zweigelt grapes. This is a somewhat atypical, but very expressive style: instead of massive sweetness, there is a lively fruitiness, a lighter structure and the precision typical of the Kracher house.
The aroma reveals layers of red berries – ripe strawberries, cherries, raspberries, as well as dried apricots, orange peel and subtle floral nuances.
The wine is juicy, lively and well-balanced. The sweetness is supported by fresh acidity, so it is not sticky in the mouth, but energetic. Notes of dark berries, blackberry jam, strawberry jam, dried fruits and spices are combined, and light tannins give this dessert wine an unfortunate red wine backbone.
Burgenland, especially the Seewinkel area on Lake Neusiedl, is famous for its warm Pannonian climate and unique microclimate, which is very favorable for the production of late harvest and sweet wines.
The wine was fermented and aged for 5 months in French oak barrels, which gives the sweet fruitiness more depth and a soft texture.
Residual sugar content 90.3 g/l
Acid content 6.4 g/l
Serve at 10–12 °C as a dessert wine, or with soft and long-aged cheeses, as well as chocolate, strawberry, or raspberry desserts. It also pairs beautifully with goose served with red cabbage and sweet chestnuts.
A deep amber colored sweet wine (rosé-like) that shows aromas of cherries, poached strawberries, crepes suzette and dates. Bright, tasty and and fruity with excellent freshness and balance. Drink now or hold. Screw cap.
The Kracher winery in Austria is located next to Lake Neusiedl. It is one of the few places in the world where practically every year it is possible to grow and harvest a proper harvest affected by noble rot and to produce sweet wines. It is the sweet Kracher wines that have gained worldwide recognition and various titles, the producer himself has been recognized as the winemaker of the year five times, and one of the most famous wine critic Robert Parker rates Kracher wines the highest (the only Austrian wine is rated 100 points!). Kracher wine is characterized by harmony, as the sweetness is offset and balanced by refreshing acids, and the most complex wines are exceptionally long-lasting and become an object of collection.
