White dry
Capanna Moscadello di Montalcino Vendemmia Tardiva 2017 - a great opportunity to taste the reflections of the Tuscan sun, closed in a bottle. The juice fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature (14-16 °C). Maceration lasted 2 days. The wine was aged in 5-10 hl oak barrels for about 1 year and 6-12 months in the bottle.
The wine of deep golden color smells of nutmeg, acacia honey, apricots, pears. The wine is characterized by a rich, round sweetness, but not "sticky"; the acid gives vitality and allows the sweetness to be elegantly integrated. The texture is slightly creamy, with a soft honey and caramel aftertaste, harmoniously intertwined with the sweetness of the fruit.
Color: deep golden.
Residual sugar content: 110g/l.
Serve at 8-10 °C with biscuits, aged and/or cheese with herbs, liver pâté.
A oily and dense white with dried apples, oranges and dried peaches. Medium body. Sweet finish. Fruity and fresh sweet wine. Drink now.
Capanna (officially Azienda Agricola Capanna di Cencioni) is a family winery located in the Montosoli area, in the northern Montalcino region of Tuscany.
The Cencioni family has run the farm since 1957, when Giuseppe Cencioni purchased a plot of land with a simple forest hut (Italian: capanna, from which the winery's name derives). Initially, the farm produced small quantities of wine, but later expansion allowed it to occupy ~ 25 hectares of vineyards. The farm is currently managed by Patrizio and Amedeo Cencioni, the third/fourth generation, directly involved in the agrotechnical and oenological processes.
Capanna was among the 25 founders who together helped to establish the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino after Brunello was granted DOCG status in 1966.
Capanna has preserved the archaic aesthetic of a wine house — some of the winery’s premises are in the old village style, arranged and adapted to modern winemaking.
The fermentation sections use traditional truncated-conical wooden oak vats/vats, especially for Sangiovese (Brunello, Rosso) batches. Temperature control devices and automatic pumping/transfer systems are also used, especially where precise control is required.
Brunello and Rosso wines are aged in Slavonian oak barrels (from ~10 hl to ~30 hl) located in an underground cellar (stone gallery and old rooms). Packaging, storage and warehousing of products take place under controlled temperature and humidity conditions.
Capanna produces:
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, including the main line and Riserva style.
Rosso di Montalcino DOC.
Moscadello di Montalcino DOC, including the Vendemmia Tardiva style.
Other wines: Sant’Antimo DOC, and IGT type wines.
In addition to wine, Capanna also produces extra virgin olive oil (EVO) and grappa.
Due to its history, location and quality products, Capanna has a solid international reputation among wine lovers and experts - their Brunello series is especially appreciated.
