White dry
Capanna Moscadello di Montalcino Vendemmia Tardiva 2017 - a great opportunity to taste the reflections of the Tuscan sun, closed in a bottle. The juice fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature (14-16 °C). Maceration lasted 2 days. The wine was aged in 5-10 hl oak barrels for about 1 year and 6-12 months in the bottle.
The wine of deep golden color smells of nutmeg, acacia honey, apricots, pears. The wine is characterized by a rich, round sweetness, but not "sticky"; the acid gives vitality and allows the sweetness to be elegantly integrated. The texture is slightly creamy, with a soft honey and caramel aftertaste, harmoniously intertwined with the sweetness of the fruit.
Color: deep golden.
Residual sugar content: 110g/l.
Serve at 8-10 °C with biscuits, aged and/or cheese with herbs, liver pâté.
A oily and dense white with dried apples, oranges and dried peaches. Medium body. Sweet finish. Fruity and fresh sweet wine. Drink now.
Capanna (officially Azienda Agricola Capanna di Cencioni) is a family-owned winery located in the Montosoli area, in the northern part of the Montalcino appellation in Tuscany.
The Cencioni family has owned the estate since 1957, when Giuseppe Cencioni purchased a plot of land with a simple woodland shelter (capanna in Italian, from which the winery takes its name). Initially producing small quantities of wine, the estate gradually expanded to its current size of approximately 25 hectares of vineyards. Today, the winery is run by Patrizio and Amedeo Cencioni, representing the third and fourth generations, who are directly involved in vineyard management and winemaking.
Capanna was among the 25 founding members who helped establish the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino following the granting of Brunello DOCG status in 1966.
The winery has preserved its traditional rural character, with parts of the cellar housed in historic village-style buildings that have been carefully restored and adapted for modern winemaking. Fermentation takes place in traditional truncated-conical oak vats, particularly for Sangiovese-based wines such as Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. Temperature control systems and automated pumping equipment are also used where precision is required.
Brunello and Rosso wines are aged in large Slavonian oak casks (ranging from approximately 10 to 30 hectoliters), stored in underground cellars with stone galleries and naturally stable conditions. Bottling, storage, and ageing take place under carefully controlled temperature and humidity levels.
Capanna produces:
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, including the classic and Riserva styles
Rosso di Montalcino DOC
Moscadello di Montalcino DOC, including Vendemmia Tardiva
Other wines, including Sant’Antimo DOC and IGT wines
Extra virgin olive oil (EVO) and grappa
Thanks to its history, location, and consistent quality, Capanna enjoys a strong international reputation among wine professionals and collectors, with its Brunello wines particularly highly regarded.
