The mead we are presenting is a traditional trójniak style mead, produced from 1,569 individual honey samples collected from beekeepers across Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. It is a tribute to an inspiring act of solidarity on the road to independence: the Baltic Way – the living human chain stretching from Tallinn through Riga to Vilnius in 1989.
This mead reflects the richness and diversity of honey found in the Baltic region, uniting it all in one exceptional drink.
Augustow Meadery (Augustowska Miodosytnia) is an authentic producer of mead and other traditional natural beverages based in Augustów, Poland, in the country’s south-eastern region near the borders with Lithuania and Belarus.
Here, centuries-old mead-making traditions meet a contemporary approach to natural products. In Augustów, honey and other forest resources are transformed into beverages crafted according to authentic recipes that date back to the times of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. The idea of producing mead was born out of deep respect for beekeeping, ancient forest beekeeping traditions, and home mead-making practices that were once widespread but gradually forgotten—and are now being carefully revived.
Augustow Meadery aims to restore historical culture, share a part of the region’s heritage, and bring back the flavours once admired and enjoyed by earlier generations. All beverages are made from natural ingredients, hand-gathered from the Augustów Forest and surrounding areas of Poland and Lithuania. Only honey from trusted beekeepers is used—the most precious and noble raw material in alcoholic beverage production.
Each product is created with great care, following long-established principles of craftsmanship. The recipes are rooted in the rich heritage of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, while the production process reflects respect for the raw materials and for the people who harvest them.
