Red dry
Domaine Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Chaignots 2022 is an exceptional red Burgundy wine that reflects the strong character and subtlety of the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru appellation. The vines grow on the “Aux Chaignots” plot, located in the northern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Wine aroma: intense aromas of cherries, raspberries, blackberries, rose petals and delicate spices. Taste: well-balanced, with soft but clearly perceptible tannins, fresh acidity, silky texture. Aftertaste: long, fruity, with a subtle earthy note - indicating the wine's potential for maturity.
The vines are 35-60 years old, they grow in clay and limestone soil. Cold maceration was carried out before fermentation (about 5-6 days, ~10°C). Fermentation took place with natural yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for about 14–16 months (about 30–40% of the barrels are new).
Serve at 14-16 °C. The wine goes well with duck, roasted pheasant, mushrooms, truffle dishes, veal, as well as with aged cheeses (Comté, Tomme de Bourgogne).
Red cherries and fresh garden herbs in the nose. Concentrated and compact palate. Still tightly wound, the power and drive at the finish are very impressive. A touch of licorice here, too. Will need some time, but that's not unusual for this appellation.
Since 1825, the Faiveley family has worked with deep respect in the heart of Burgundy – in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, and Côte Chalonnaise regions – where prestigious Grands Crus and Premiers Crus wines are born. The secrets and passion of winemaking, passed down from generation to son, have allowed Domaine Faiveley to become the largest family-owned vineyard estate in Burgundy today, managing an impressive portfolio of 13 Grands Crus, 35 Premiers Crus, and 28 village wines. The wines of this producer are consistently characterized by elegance and impeccable quality.
