Bodegas Valdespino Vina Macharnudo Alto Barrel-Fermented Palomino 2024 - the only "Valdespino" vineyard in Macharnudo Alto (pago) is located in the prestigious High Jerez area, ~135 m above sea level, with a southeast exposure. The vines grow in albariza soil, rich in marine fossils, limestone and clay. The grapes are harvested at night, by hand. The lightly crushed must is transferred to used sherry oak barrels, where fermentation lasts about 7 days. The wine is kept on fine lees until July to gain depth and structure, then transferred to stainless steel tanks to settle, then filtered and bottled.
Color - light yellow with greenish hues; aroma – limey minerality, limes and lemons, white stone fruits, subtle toasted bread/brioche nuances, hints of almonds; taste – subtle, medium-bodied, slightly oily texture, fresh acidity, noticeable hints of saltiness and flint, chalky mineral aftertaste.
Serve at 8-10 °C as an aperitif, with raw seafood and smoked fish.
