The Champagne is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes in the best villages of the Cote de Blancs (26% Cramant, 21% Avize, 53% Mesnil). It is aged for 42 months with yeast, with around 30% reservé. Powerful acidity, deep flavours, mineral body and a long finish. Around 7000 bottles are produced.
Serve at 6-8 °C with fleshier fish, lightly smoked eel, langoustine, meaty oysters.
Attractive notes of walnuts, pears, ginger, honey and apple crumble. Rich, round and delicious, with a medium body, fine bubbles and vibrant acidity cutting through the caressing pastry notes. Disgorged March 2023. 3g/L dosage.
The roots of the Champagne Valentin Leflaive adventure lie in the Leflaive family’s history in Puligny-Montrachet, where for centuries a love for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines—and the pursuit of precision in expressing Burgundy’s terroir—has prevailed.
Olivier Leflaive’s hallmark has long been the courage to take risks. Since 2015, a new chapter has been unfolding in Oger, at the heart of the Côte des Blancs: “Champagne de Lieux.” For this fresh and slightly unconventional project, Olivier chose the name Valentin—his son, born in 2007.
In 2020, Valentin Leflaive was officially approved as a Négociant-Manipulant and relocated to Oger. Champagne Valentin Leflaive established itself in an authentic winery with a traditional ageing cellar carved into the chalky soils. Jean Soubeyrand, together with cellar master Élysé Brigandat, leads this ongoing adventure.
This new beginning opens the way for distinctive experiments that reflect both the authenticity of the Champagne region and the Leflaive family’s ambition to craft wines defined by refinement and precision. Each glass from the Champagne Valentin Leflaive range is an invitation to discover Champagne at its best—an exploration of its landscapes and memories, where tasting becomes an unforgettable experience, first and foremost the fruit of a family adventure.
