Owned by the esteemed Barton family, Château Langoa Barton, situated directly across from its famous sibling Léoville Barton, consistently produces outstanding examples of Saint-Julien. While both offer exceptional quality, Langoa Barton is often favored for its earlier drinkability and remarkable value.
This 2016 vintage presents a captivating ruby color. The intense and complex nose reveals alluring hints of black fruit and brioche bread. The initial taste is vivid and velvety, with the mid-palate enhancing those black fruit notes first perceived on the nose, complemented by subtle toasty undertones. The wine is both juicy and fleshy, supported by elegant tannins, leading to a long, satisfying finish.
The Château Langoa Barton's unique terroir comprises plots overlooking the river, with splendid slopes of quaternary gravel. These conditions bring the grapes to full maturity before a rigorous selection process. The estate maintains traditional plowing methods, entirely without weeding or herbicides.
The wine undergoes meticulous aging for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, with 60% of these being brand new, further contributing to its complexity and structure.
Serves 16-18 C with beef steak, pheasant or quail and game stew.
