Legado Carménère 2023 marks a return to the roots of the Maipo Valley and the ‘Carménère’ grape variety, which found its second home in Chile. With this wine, Viña De Martino seeks a classic expression of Carménère—defined by structure and subtle spiciness.
The aroma is deep yet precise: ripe black plums, blackberries, and blackcurrants intertwine with notes of dried herbs, green pepper, tobacco leaf, and a light graphite nuance.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with balanced, vibrant acidity and fine, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and dry, marked by a subtle bitterness and herbal accent characteristic of the variety.
The vineyards are located in the Maipo Valley, on alluvial, stony soils, influenced by the Andes Mountains—conditions that allow ‘Carménère’ to retain acid balance and aromatic precision, avoiding excessive ripeness.
Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts, followed by ageing in French oak barrels, using a restrained proportion of new oak.
