Red dry
An elegant and subtle Pinot Noir from the prestigious Vougeot appellation, evoking the silky texture and mineral character of Côte de Nuits, while remaining more approachable in both style and price than a Grand Cru.
The wine opens with red berry aromas, notes of humus, and subtle hints of licorice. On the palate, it shows excellent structure – dense yet refined, with a generous mouthfeel. Fine-grained tannins and well-balanced acidity make this wine enjoyable even in its youth.
The vineyard is located near the village of Vougeot, on limestone and marl soils. These conditions ensure excellent water regulation and contribute to the wine’s expressive aromatic profile.
The Pinot Noir grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted both in the vineyard and at the winery to select only the highest-quality fruit.
Fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts only. After cold maceration, the wine ferments for 21–28 days, followed by 15–18 months of ageing in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new, adding depth while preserving elegance and balance.
Serve at 16–18 °C. Pairs beautifully with duck breast in cherry sauce – the fruit notes echo the wine’s profile. Also excellent with roast guinea fowl or wild mushroom risotto, both of which complement its earthiness and balance.
Domaine Bertagna is a historic estate located in the village of Vougeot, in the heart of Burgundy, whose story has been shaped for five generations by the Reh family. The history of Clos de Vougeot is closely linked to the Cistercian monks of the Cîteaux Abbey, who established and elevated this legendary site as early as the 12th century.
Although the Reh family owns several wine estates worldwide — including the renowned Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt in Germany’s Mosel–Saar–Ruwer region — Domaine Bertagna was acquired in 1982, and in 1988 the estate came under the leadership of the dynamic Eva Reh.
Under Eva’s direction, Domaine Bertagna places strong emphasis on fermentation precision and modern vineyard management. The winemaking philosophy focuses on expressing terroir purity, fruit clarity, aromatic intensity, elegance, longevity, and subtle oak integration.
These are precise, classically styled Burgundy wines, faithfully expressing their origin.
