Fruit and berry dry
“Geri metai No. 21” is an exceptional Lithuanian fruit wine that expresses the unique character of rowan berries, natural craftsmanship, and careful family work in the orchard. The wine is produced in small quantities, with strict control at every stage — from growing the fruit to final bottling. It is an authentic, handcrafted product that reflects the spirit of Lithuanian nature.
The aroma reveals notes of fresh rowan berries, delicate spices, and vibrant fruit freshness. On the palate, the wine is light, fresh, and subtly spicy, with gentle acidity and a clean, unburdened character.
The wine is made from orange rowan berries, known for their exceptional nutritional value. They are rich in vitamin C, provitamin A, minerals, organic acids, and antioxidants. The berries are processed immediately after harvest to preserve their freshness and natural qualities.
Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel tanks, followed by three months of aging in French oak barrels, which add structure and subtle spicy nuances.
The residual sugar level is around 5 g/l, giving the wine a refreshing, easy-drinking profile.
Each batch is marked with an individual flavour number, in this case No. 21, highlighting the natural variation between vintages. Only around 600 bottles are produced, making this a limited-edition, collectible Lithuanian wine.
Serve at 8-12 °C with light snacks, white fish, and soft cheeses.
“Geri metai” – unveiling the hidden potential of rowan berries
“Geri metai” is a family-owned estate that has been cultivating rowan orchards for more than five years and, in 2022, introduced its first rowan berry wines to the market.
“Our goal is to reveal the potential of the rowan berry while preserving its natural character and expression of terroir,” says Giedrius Kaukas, the owner of the estate.
The wines are never heated, filtered, or artificially clarified. Every stage – from harvest to aging – is carried out by hand, ensuring that only the purest and most authentic expression of the fruit reaches the bottle.
The estate is home to 14 different rowan berry varieties, whose fruits vary in color (from bright orange to almost black), taste, and aroma. As a result, the “Geri metai” portfolio includes white, rosé, orange, amber, red, and purple rowan wines – each with a distinctive character.
Rowan wines are true, wine-like expressions: alongside the unique character of rowan berries, one can also detect notes of citrus, dried fruit, wild berries, and gentle spice. On the palate, the wines range from refreshing acidity and a light body to richer, more expressive tones, depending on the style.
The wines are made exclusively from rowan berries – without the addition of any other fruits or berries. They may contain only naturally occurring sulfites.
