Hubert Lamy Chassagne-Montrachet Le Concis du Champs Blanc 2023

Description

One of the most refined examples of Chassagne-Montrachet from the Hubert Lamy portfolio. This wine combines precision, elegance, and mineral tension. It is produced from ‘Chardonnay’ grapes grown in the unique “Le Concis du Champs” vineyard.

On the nose, aromas of white peach, lemon zest, and brioche unfold, complemented by stony minerality and a subtle nutty texture. On the palate, the wine shows a medium body, vivid acidity, and a creamy, silky texture, leading to a long, elegant finish where freshness, salinity, and citrus notes intertwine.

The “Le Concis du Champs” vineyard is located in the southern part of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation, at the foot of the slope, on limestone and clay soils with stone inclusions. These conditions allow the ‘Chardonnay’ grapes to ripen with great precision, preserving a pure aromatic profile and a subtle expression of terroir.

This is an elegant and expressive white wine from Chassagne-Montrachet AOC, sourced from a single vineyard. The vines are planted at high density to achieve maximum concentration and aromatic precision. Hubert Lamy works organically, avoids chemical treatments, and ferments using native yeasts.

Aging takes place in 300 L and 600 L French oak barrels, with only 0–10% new oak, ensuring the wine retains its clean, refined, and natural character.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 10–12 °C with fried sea bass in lemon butter, turkey breast with a delicate herb sauce, or mature Comté cheese.

About brand

Hubert Lamy is a young yet already highly regarded Burgundy winemaker based in Saint-Aubin, near Chassagne-Montrachet. Although his first wines appeared only recently, they immediately attracted the attention of sommeliers and collectors thanks to their precision, clarity of style, and sensitive expression of terroir. After studying in Beaune and gaining experience at several prestigious estates, Hubert chose to pursue his own vision. His wines convey the essence of Saint-Aubin and Chassagne, combining classical Burgundian aesthetics with a modern approach to winemaking.

Winemaking Philosophy

The vineyards are farmed using organic and biodynamic practices, without herbicides or synthetic fertilizers. The winemaker’s goal is not to shape the wine, but to allow it to express itself naturally.

Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, and oak is used very sparingly (around 15–25% new barrels). Aging typically lasts 12–18 months, allowing the wines to evolve naturally without additional filtration.

Wine Style

The Chardonnay wines are characterized by clear minerality, a delicate creamy texture, floral and citrus aromas, and finely integrated oak.

The Pinot Noir wines show an elegant aromatic profile with notes of red berries, subtle herbal nuances, and refined tannins. These wines have excellent aging potential while remaining approachable in their youth.

Prestigious Vineyards

The estate works with several high-quality vineyard sites in Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Puligny-Montrachet, including:

Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly – a high-altitude vineyard with a style close to Chassagne
Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées – offering greater structure and longevity
Puligny-Montrachet Les Trezin – known for elegance, floral character, and minerality
Bourgogne Blanc Les Charmes – an excellent expression of the estate’s house style

Aging and Drinking Window

Hubert Lamy wines are known for their harmonious balance between accessibility and longevity. They are enjoyable when young but gain complexity and depth over 5–10 years. The Premier Cru wines, particularly En Remilly and Les Chaumées, display outstanding aging potential while maintaining vibrant acidity and the refined, classic character of Burgundy.
