dry
A subtle and mineral "Riesling" grape wine from the prestigious Wachau region in Austria. "Federspiel" is a wine category that stands out for its gentler, fruitier, and refined taste.
The wine has aromas of lime, unripe apples, melon, carambola, and white cherries. Mineral and gentle acidity are also revealed. It is an excellent choice for wine lovers who appreciate freshness, fruitiness, and balanced acidity, as well as the classic "Riesling" style.
These wines are made from a blend of 5–40-year-old vines, planted in various plots closer to the river on alluvial soil and sand.
Fermentation took place in older large-format barrels (500–5000 l) and stainless steel tanks, followed by aging on yeast lees for about 3 months.

Serve at 8-10°C with seafood, baked trout with lemon and herbs, fish tartare with avocado and citrus, sushi, sashimi, and fatty soft cheeses.
Very bright nose of pink grapefruit, lime zest and mint. So racy, sleek and stony you will either love this wine at the bottom end of the medium-bodied range, or it will be too much for you. For us, it is just a bit young. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.
Weingut Emmerich Knoll is one of the most famous and highly respected wineries in Austria, located in the prestigious Wachau region – one of the oldest and most important wine-producing regions in the country. This winery is renowned not only for its long-standing traditions but also for its exceptional winemaking quality.
Vineyards and Production:
Weingut Emmerich Knoll vineyards grow on terraced slopes, where world-renowned "Grüner Veltliner" and "Riesling" grapes are cultivated. The unique climatic conditions of the Wachau region: warm summers and cool evenings, combined with calcareous and rocky soil conditions, create ideal conditions for growing these varieties.
The winemaking process in these farms is based on long-standing traditions and extensive knowledge of vineyard care. The winemaker adheres to natural cultivation methods to extract the authentic flavor of each vineyard, while ensuring the highest quality standards.
Wines and Classification:
Weingut Emmerich Knoll produces some of the best wines in the Wachau region, often labeled with the "Smaragd" label, which is a distinctive Wachau wine classification. These wines are characterized by exceptional longevity, flavor concentration, and complexity, often comparable to top-tier Burgundy white wines.
"Grüner Veltliner" and "Riesling" wines from Emmerich Knoll vineyards are balanced, with bright acidity, excellent fruit and mineral balance, and their flavor intensity and longevity are often internationally acclaimed.
Wine Labels and St. Urban:
Weingut Emmerich Knoll wine bottles are adorned with a baroque label depicting St. Urban, the patron saint of winemaking. This symbolizes the winemaking traditions preserved on the farm and the respect for ancient winemaking methods, passed down from generation to generation.
